Characteristics
White to light gray powder, odorless, irritating to the respiratory tract and skin. The melting point of the product recrystallized from the mixture of halochloroform and ethanol is 155-156℃, and the specific gravity is 1.29 (20℃). Soluble in benzene, acetone, chloroform, carbon disulfide, slightly soluble in ethanol and ether, insoluble in water, dilute alkali, and gasoline.
Applications
Super accelerator for natural rubber, synthetic rubber and latex. When heated to above 100°C, free sulfur is slowly decomposed, so it can also be used as a vulcanizing agent. This product is an excellent second accelerator for thiazole accelerators. It can also be used with other accelerators as an accelerator for continuous vulcanization of rubber compounds. This product is mainly used in the manufacture of tires, inner tubes, rubber shoes, medical products, cables, industrial products, etc. When used as an accelerator, the amount is generally 0.2-0.3 parts, and when used for vulcanization, it is 2-4 parts.
